The main reason I decided to spend almost $100 just for the duvet cover was to get it in soft Egyptian cotton. I have Egyptian cotton sheets which are very soft and comfortable. However, this duvet cover is not soft at all. It wasn't soft right out of the box so I followed the washing instructions before using it hoping it would soften up. Egyptian cotton is known to soften over time and I have read that the chemicals used in processing can make the cotton less soft when first purchased. I was hoping they would feel better after washing, but unfortunately they didn't. They feel rougher than my much cheaper microfiber duvet cover. I have very dry skin in winter so I really needed very soft, comfortable bedding. I am extremely disappointed. I tried sleeping in it for the first time last night and found it very hard and scratchy on my bad, dry skin. The only thing I liked about this duvet cover is the pattern/color.
