Great product, a pleasure to use.

I moved from firmware 13 2022 A1706 where I managed to change the SSD from 128 to 256, since it could be done there. There were only 2 type si ports (they didn’t live well, there’s nothing to get used to), but the old pros had a sword of Damocles in the form of a frayed screen cable, and some also had a keyboard clogged with dust. The old proshka warmed up quite significantly, especially in summer, on average 4-5 degrees hotter than the M1, and this is noticeable if the hands are constantly on the topcase. By the way, the 2022 MacBook just burned my hands. But M1 does not heat up at all. The fan does not work, although it is present. I took an Intel 1706 firmware with me on the train and it landed there at 5-7 o'clock, and M1 on the same train did not sit even halfway. At the same time, the sizes are convenient for placement on the knees. Sometimes it was necessary to open something in Photoshop, Lightroom, even launched the final cut and all three quietly hung in the background, without interfering with each other during work, if you switch between them. Despite the fact that the memory is only 8GB. The main scenario of the m1 firmware for me is watching YouTube, working with code in IDEA, surfing the net. Nothing more is required of him. Previously, in this size, I used laptops from asus, tablets from asus with an android keyboard, and now they are equal in weight to a full-fledged laptop. I consider the m1 processor itself to be the most suitable portable mobile device, whether it is in a tablet or a laptop. Many people carry 16" MacBooks with them or try to fully work at home on 13", without an external monitor and keyboard. For me, all these are extremes for which the MacBook is not intended, although it can be used that way. In general, the laptop turned out to be the most successful among analogues, the screw ones were no longer close because of the worst combination of compactness - performance - battery life. But that's if you don't take into account the price. For the price of a MacBook, you will buy a couple of laptops and still have a tablet left. But if the question of money is not a question, take it right away with a 500GB disk and 16GB of RAM, because each new OS will be more voracious.

Pros
  • Compact, light, does not heat up, lives for a long time from one discharge, there is a fingerprint scanner, a good screen, quiet, no problems with the keyboard, no problems with the screen cable. Good sound quality from microphone and speakers. It works smartly in simple tasks and with a lack of RAM.
Cons
  • Only two Type-C ports, there may be problems with Power Delivery on some adapters (boards burn out and are replaced under warranty)
