later As you probably know by reading this, tolerances on hitch accessories and hitch ball inserts vary. I use a bike rack that has so much room that it swings back and forth when it's fixed . 1.25 inch screws should be longer. At a setting of 1.25 inches, the screws protrude a little towards the floor. On trucks and SUVs this is unlikely and a problem but I have a slight problem with my Honda Accord and when I hit a curb the bolts hit and move it or the bolts bend I also had this on my 2000 GMC Jimmy/ Chevy Blazer with a 2" jack and 31" tires to stop the noise and wobble from my hitch and tire holder. But it looks like an accord and curbs.. as the screws go down and the smoother part is on the top not the bottom. I bent and nearly broke the bolts while riding some decent trails. You can technically install this smoother side down, screw ends up, but you will be forcing the hitch ball/accessory to fight gravity and the downward force of trailers or accessories. This might work if its weight isn't too much, but it could also cause it to fail or bend that way. It's up to you. whether the ground clearance is also not a problem for you.
