I use 2 of these for the lighting in my garage which is above the laundry room. The only power switch is in the back of the garage, so it's easier to just leave it on for a while and use it to turn the lights off after a while. They work well and turn on as soon as you get close to their location. However there are two downsides to live with, firstly if you use it in a ceiling light where the light is directed downwards there is a dead zone directly under the light source to stand in and the sensor is not movement sees. So the light can go out directly above you. The second problem I have is related to the time duration setting: you can rotate the dial almost all the way, but about 90 percent of the time the time only increases by a few seconds once you hit the last 10 percent, it changes by a few minutes. Combined with the problem of the light directly overhead not seeing you, I just set the timer to max and left it there. But if you don't want to try setting it to a specific time, that shouldn't be a problem.
