If you vacuum up very fine dust, such as B. cement board or plasterboard dust, the standard filter does not work properly. These little pouches are the bomb for this type of application. You still want to use your default filter for anything that might escape. The only downside is that you can only use a fraction of the maximum power of the vacuum cleaner. They're U-shaped when in use and don't add to the length of the vacuum, so you might get 50% capacity in that case. For very fine dust, however, they work well.
