It was a bit pricey for a kids shirt but it was worth it. Coming from a mild climate but did a hike in Europe in winter/early spring with lots of cold rain and snow. . I bought Smartwool Mid 250 shirts for me and my boys and some cheap cotton thermos for our trip. We have lived in these. I should have saved on cheap stuff and just got 2 fancy wool shirts. The wool is pleasant (does not scratch), takes up little space in the package, dries quickly (I wash them by hand in the evening, in the morning they are dry). Quality matters.
