when I bought this I overlooked that the thing itself is made of neodymium magnet. I read other reviews and decided to buy my own super strong little magnets to attach to my devices as everyone has complained about the lack of grip of the supplied magnets. I think it was a mistake lol. So, if like me you like to quickly read product descriptions before making an impulse purchase, let me clear it up in list form: the strongest magnet known to man. It is STRONG strong when around other neodymium magnets. DO NOT buy extra neodymium magnets to attach to devices; You won't have time to disconnect the mount from your devices. - It comes with two sets of 3M magnets; Two 3M square VHB magnets (which can hold over 5 pounds of weight) and two 3M round magnets that can be found in a phone case or used in a car phone mount. I used a 3M round magnet on my iPad (7th, 10.2 inch) and a 3M square VHB on the lid of a MacBook Pro. That's more than enough. with 2. You have to remove the magnets that stick to the mount when it arrives. I think that's why people think this mount is flimsy: they stick a sticky 3M magnet to their device and then expect it to stick to a separate 3M magnet that sticks to the mount. - It's VERY difficult to remove 3M magnets from the mount, but you have to do it for it to really hold your device without slipping. To do this, slide the magnet off the mount. (You'll know what I mean when you see it.) - If you're uncomfortable attaching an adhesive magnet to your device, you can actually insert 3M magnets between the case and your device; I'm currently doing this with my MacBook and it's holding up great. You can remove the mount from your devices as many times as you like. I would love to do it - I would even encourage it. The weight of my iPad (of course) shifts the center of gravity of my MacBook. As such, I wouldn't recommend leaving it for more than a couple of hours, especially if you're using a MacBook stand - mine is quite heavily propped, leaving my iPad completely suspended in mid-air. Using this for Sidecar and iPad, the weight/center of gravity shifting issue can become very annoying when using a MacBook keyboard. Every time you raise your palm while typing, the MacBook leans toward the iPad, lol. But that's not a problem if you're using a MacBook stand and Bluetooth keyboard (which I highly recommend). Overall I am very satisfied with this product. Perfect execution, brilliant invention. The brand needs to work on their instructions a bit so they can avoid all the low reviews from people who don't know that the entire mount is made of neodymium magnets and they have to remove the 3M magnets stuck to it first. Information is power (and higher ratings)!
