Review on πŸ”Š High-Quality Subwoofer Stereo Amplifier - 100Watt 2-8ohm TPA3116 Mono Channel Class D Amp for Home Theater Power by Eric Render

So far so good: receiver and amplifier

I'm using this amp to drive a 1990's Bose Acoustimass 3 passive subwoofer with 5-1/4" speakers. The driver has two 8 ohm coils, so I connected the inputs in parallel to give the amp a 4 ohm load. I'm shocked at how well this scheme works. In the nearest corner of my living room is a Sony 15" subwoofer, 200 watts, rated at 40 Hz this beast in no way inferior to the Sony. Very good transient response. Able to make the room vibrate with the Sony subwoofer turned off, and that listening area is probably three times cubic feet, which is recommended for such a small subwoofer. I have no idea what the RMS performance is. I'll bet it's 50W or less, but it's enough for a tiny Bose subwoofer at my listening levels, which rarely go above 85dB Class D stays cool, doesn't use much power. I experienced a few negatives as other reviewers have mentioned. When I connected it to the Kinter K2020A+ amplifier, the subwoofer got 60 Hz hum. It didn't matter if it was next to the kinter or not. Then I noticed that the hum was gone when I grabbed both amps with my hand. A jumper between the chassis screws on the amps fixed the duct tape. It would be nice if it had a power button separate from the volume control so you don't have to fiddle with the volume control every time you turn it on (it doesn't sound right on my 2-sub unless both subs are on par ). But that's a minor complaint. Plugging into a switched power strip does that, along with some of my other stuff. Let's see how long this lasts. If the 18-month warranty runs out by a few years, that's good.
