Review on Philips MRV640 Magnavox DVD Recorder by David Perez

Designers have foolishly abandoned the fast forward and rewind buttons that are standard on most designs. A few days later, I finally figured out that to browse the DVD, you have to hold down the chapter forward/backward buttons. The manual is difficult to read so it exacerbates the problem. More importantly, I tried editing the commercials using the Hide Chapters feature, but they still popped up when I tried to play the DVD on my good Samsung DVD player. . Even though the recordings play fine on this computer, they skip intermittently on my Samsung DVD player, which plays DVD+R discs fine when I create them on my computer. The discs appear to play fine on an older Toshiba DVD player, so it's probably not clear if the discs will play on other devices. I'm not ready to put up with that, so I'll pay more for a Toshiba with a built-in hard drive and I can actually edit ads.
