I have had this unit for a few weeks now. I checked the output with a multimeter. It stabilizes the output voltage as specified using a selector switch on the back of the unit. At the moment I set it to 120V, it's quiet. I almost bought a cheaper device from a lesser known brand. But numerous reviews say that these devices were noisy. Well, APC's Line-R doesn't make much noise at all. My only complaint is that the device smelled like hot plastic for a few days after first use. After that was settled, there were no problems. I plan to use it to power my computer systems when the power goes out and I will be using my generator. I will come back and post additional comments or increase or decrease my rating at that time. So far it looks like a quality block. APC is a good brand. Update 03/17/2014: I've had a few power outages and placed this unit between a generator and sensitive electronics. No problem to report. The only complaint is that the device produces a small amount of ozone all the time, in my opinion. Since it's been over two months since I bought the device, I don't think the ozone smell will go away at all. I will ask APC about it. Update 4/11/2014: I emailed APC (Schneider Electric) and they advised that the lingering ozone smell doesn't seem to be working properly. They immediately offered an RMA and an exchange of the block for a new one. They sent a new block without hesitation and I sent them the original block. In general the service was very good. Only criticism is that I had to pay for return shipping. However, I was able to fit the device and some pads into a flat rate USPS box, so it cost me about $13 or so. If I used a regular box and shipped it by weight it would cost over $50 and it wasn't worth it. The new device works just as well as the old one and does not smell of ozone. I have more confidence that my electronics are protected from under/over voltage when I start my generator. Overall I'm still happy with this device. However, I am leaving a 4 star rating because the return shipping change was at my expense and I also received a defective unit the first time. So I ended up paying more than I originally bought. No ozone smell. Edit 12/20/17: Still working fine a few years later. Protects and regulates as expected, sometimes even with generator operation.
