Does not work on Samsung Galaxy A20 phone or new Galaxy tablet

Does not work on the Samsung Galaxy A20 mobile phone or the new Galaxy tablet. It will NOT START AUTOMATICALLY. Even on my new HP computer, Samsung tablet or Dell laptop. All newer models. I can't return it because I don't trust the device after connecting it to my computer, phone and tablet for troubleshooting. So I'm stuck with that. It only works on my desktop computer via a USB drive so everything isn't lost - I can still use it as external storage to download files from my computer. IT WAS NO INSTRUCTIONS or even proper packaging. It got a little in a slightly clear back and that was it.
