These needles do the trick, except they're not (in my opinion) the best needles for leather. These needles are too sharp and eyes too big to work with leather. These needles are very sharp. I can't tell you how many times I've bloodied my fingers with it. Leatherworking needles are usually blunt. They punch holes with other tools and use needles only for sewing. Big eyes are also a disadvantage. They thread easily but are difficult to get through the leather holes. Since you only thread the needle about every 100 holes, ease of threading shouldn't be a top priority when choosing a needle. The needles are of excellent quality. They're thick enough not to bend in most situations, but this also means they're difficult to get through the holes. I used them for about 5 months before learning a bit more and replacing them with better quality leatherworking needles.
