Great lid. I wish I had had it many years ago. Luckily I lost the lid that came with the carafe. The lid had to be removed during brewing and screwed back on after brewing. Coffee can be brewed through this new lid. While this helps keep the coffee warm, it cools down a bit over time due to the opening. Therefore, you should pour the coffee within about half an hour after brewing to keep the cup warm. Thanks to the screw cap, the coffee in the carafe only stays warm for a few hours. The lid makes it easy to pour coffee from the carafe. This is much easier than if the carafe had no lid. I would have given five stars if it wasn't for the heat loss of the coffee. I think it's worth the compromise for what you get with this cap.
