This is a review for a Brother Project sewing machine Runway CS5055PRW (for those of you who like to compare reviews with the actual product, you are smart people). years ago), and chic new cars with digital displays were far outside my price range at the time. I didn't know if I would do well with this machine, which is by all accounts a fairly basic machine as far as modern sewing machines go. Let's summarize what I know about using this thing: - The book it comes with, is going to be your new best friend if you're new to sewing or rusty (like me). It includes a description of all the moving parts and accessories that come with the kit, instructions on how to use the machine, and a guide on how to use the different stitches (as well as which foot to use). with a decent set of beginner needles, including a round point needle and a twin needle, so you can get started on most projects right away. - You can use thread spools both vertically and horizontally (for those of you returning to sewing after a long absence and wondering why you don't see the big spindle sticking out at the top). - The (semi-)automatic needle threader is great, although it takes a little getting used to. The needle must be at the top the thread must not be held too tightly or too loosely, otherwise it will not work. It's also better than trying to pierce the needle with thread. There's a thread cutter at the back and left when you've finished this stitch, and there's one in the bobbin case to get the bobbin thread. to the perfect length. Overall, it's pretty darn easy to use, especially after reading the book that comes with it. I'm also for watching videos. I had to because the (semi-)automatic needle threader was difficult for me to grasp. It's lightweight, although the grip is a bit awkward, so I still recommend using two hands to maneuver it. If you are buying this and want to buy spare spools at the same time, buy clear acrylic. Metal spools are not suitable for this machine. BONUS TIP for those wanting to work with micro-suede/suede/velvet: Buy a non-stick foot. I pulled out many stitches before realizing it. I may have used 6 stitches from the list on this machine, but only because I haven't worked with thin fabrics or elastic before. So far, so good. I have no complaints other than that the (semi-)automatic needle threader was a bit difficult to figure out, but it's more my part and definitely not enough to align the star.
