The seller responded quickly and offered to send a new device. They didn't ask me to deal with BS to send the old one back. I received a new block and it worked as expected. Your project needs to be close enough to the fan to collect fumes. I love it because the house no longer stinks while soldering and my wife no longer yells at me for being a smelly house!
