I installed this muffler to get rid of that idiotic Flowmaster Super 10 (basically a baffle and sounds a lot like an open exhaust without a muffler on anything) that the previous owner installed because while the Flowmaster sounded harsh and cool at idle and low revs, it hummed very loudly on the freeway. It was unbearable. I had to turn the stereo up to an amazing volume just to try and drown out the exhaust rumble, but to no avail. So I installed this Walker muffler to pretty much bring the truck back to factory sound. It was the same inlet diameter as the factory pipe, so I installed a 2.75" x 2.75" exhaust coupler with 2 2.75" U-bolts on the inlet side and an exhaust on the outlet side that I got from an OEM OEM got junkyard .for $4 plugged directly into the outlet which I then installed another 2.75" U-shaped exhaust clamp. The muffler didn't need hanger pins as the exhaust pipe already had 2 of them for the factory mounting pins and the other pin just before the muffler location on the exhaust pipe leading to the intake side. After installing the clamps and rubber mount I started the truck. No more rumbles and growls just a nice smooth quiet idle. You can hear the engine but it is a lot now quieter. There is no such thing as a drone at every speed. I can imagine what a Chevy OEM exhaust sounded like when it was new, before the previous owner put that stupid Flowmaster Super 10 with no end put a pipe on it. I was wondering if the acceleration would change, but now the truck accelerates just as quickly but feels a lot smoother than before. I love it. Great muffler for about $27 with free Prime shipping. Absolutely amazing value. I couldn't be happier.
