I've had CCRadio2E for 2.5 years now. Reception and sound quality are excellent, but build quality is mediocre for the money. It was good when it was new, but has had these issues ever since. I always connect the power cord to it before changing the batteries, otherwise it often loses the transmitter and clock memory. The power button works. Often it turns on the backlight instead of turning on the radio, requiring me to press the power button multiple times to turn on the radio and then turn off the backlight. I will not send it in for repair until I can get it working as it will cost at least $70 plus shipping. I'm not the only one with these strange problems and the company has more than enough of them. time to contact them. I'd rather pay more for better build quality. I have a Realistic Pro 2006 scanner that is 25 years old, made in Japan and still works but has never been repaired. That's how they've been making electronics for ages. UPDATE 6/9/20. I had no idea S. Crane had responded to my review until last week, 8 months after it happened. I happened to look through my old reviews, which I rarely do. So, not expecting much, I contacted Mr. Moore and he replied the next day. Now I'm impressed. He sent me a new 2E radio. It's been in my hands for less than a week and so far it's working great. We'll see how it holds up, but that customer satisfaction level is higher and higher, much more than I expected when the radio was out of warranty. For the price you should expect it to last for many years without issue and they have backed their product in this case. I have a radio. The Tecsun PL-880 comes close, but doesn't have the sound quality my old ears want because it lacks high frequencies. It has a music/talk tone switch that helps, but the 2E's separate bass and treble controls make all the difference. I don't listen to FM radio that often, but the 2E also has FM reception well above average. My original 2E is in good physical shape. It still seems to work, although I have to press the power button anywhere from 1 to 22 times (yes, I counted) to turn it on as it cycles through the backlight modes instead of turning on. So I offered to send it back as they refurbish and resell radios but Mr. Moore said don't worry. I see they released the Model 3 so I hope they've addressed the durability issues. If so, this is a great buy. DX reception quality and one of the best sound quality for the price when everything works as it should. Crane, I'll remember you the next time I need a radio. Thank you Mr Moore. 06/09/2020 Another update. I should have added that my original rating was 2 stars. I've upgraded to 4 stars as durability is unknown at this time. The performance is currently 5 stars.
