Review on Enhance Your Running Experience with New Balance Rubix Running Energy Men's Shoes by Dave Brummet

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not 1260 but very good up to 200 miles

Bought my first pair of Rubix running shoes to replace my last pair of NB 1260v7. I ended up buying three pairs of 1260v7s because the entire 1260 series has worked really well for me over the years and I knew the v7 was discontinued when I bought it. I had read all the previous user reviews and knew in advance that the Rubix would not have the same quality as the 1260, but I've been using 1-2 pairs of NB runners a year since 2007 and wasn't willing to try other brands. When brand new the Rubix are great, but while I've put 300-400 miles off a 1260 with trail running miles on the end, my first pair of Rubix wore out to the point where they had very little support. /Cushion for the first 200 miles. The shoe in the photo attached to this review has run approximately 225 miles, the toe box is completely worn and the heel is very worn. When I compare this pair of Rubix to the double mileage pair of 1260s I wear as athletic shoes, the differences in quality and durability become very clear. mile runners at best. Support and comfort are great initially, they last up to about 200 km, but then drop off sharply. If you can buy them in the $89-$129 price range, they can be a good choice as they feel really good and perform well in half marathons, especially in the early stages. I wouldn't consider paying full price for it. New Balance needs to bring the collective focus back to the game and either revive the design of the 1260 series or seriously redesign the Rubix to make it last longer if they want to get what they ask for in the MSRP.
