These are well built and durable hooks with a nice neoprene finish. I used a 5/16 bit to pre-drill the hole when I installed it into a stud in the garage to hang the bike. I actually put it in the side panel, not the ceiling. I had some dumbbells nearby where I set up one of the hooks, so I figured I'd just see how strong the hook was. I started with a 20lb dumbbell and ended up with a 40lb dumbbell because it was the heaviest I had and didn't flex much. The packaging says it's rated for 75 pounds and I have no reason to doubt that statement. I plan on buying at least a few more to clear other things off the garage floor.
