Works well when used properly

I bought these to use as regular garbage bags. Most of my trash is biodegradable/compostable, but NYC is so backward that they don't have a decent city compost collection, and I'm not interested in just taking a very select portion of my compostable materials to farmers markets once a week. As a West Coast settler, I find it appalling how backward this city is. In any case, these bags are fine. My biggest issue with these bags is how quickly they break if anything is even remotely wet in the bag. I've only used them in colder weather, I have no idea how they'll hold up in a hot humid summer. Also, my trash is taken out twice a week. A few tips to improve your experience: 1) Line the bottom of your trash liner/bin with a few pages from a newspaper, catalog, or other thick paper source that you're likely to recycle. . This absorbs liquid and strengthens the bottom of the bag. 2) Take out the trash every day. These bags fall apart when wet. 3) If your bag looks pretty damp, double-pack it. It will likely decompose in your trash can, leaving a mess that needs cleaning up. Another trick I use with these bags is that I dispose of my trash daily and minimize the amount of trash I put in, I only put small trash in them. part of the bag. I squeeze all the air out of the bag and tie it very tight. Then I wrap a ball of untied waste in the untied tail and tie it off. This actually works like a double bag solution and prevents the bag from breaking too much. I'm currently experimenting with bags from other brands as I really don't like how they spoil so quickly. However, I like that I know they're going to break and I know what's inside them.
