I could not connect a repeater less than 5 miles away with this antenna. At the same point, the repeater was completely muted using the handheld's rubber ducky. With the help of a local radio amateur I was able to try out three different magnetic antennas. Building on that, I ordered the Comet SBB-1, which was launched in . I also tried the wlaniot magnetic mount with an antenna from an old PDA using a PL-239 BNC adapter. Performance with this setup was much better than with wlaniot. I have since learned that manufacturers do not have to check their antenna gain specifications. I would highly recommend this antenna. At least the included magnetic mount can be used.
