Review on EBC Brakes FA140HH Disc Brake by Kyle Awasthi

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good grip, too much for the back.

Triumph Tiger 800. Fits perfectly in the back. I'm not sure why the install doesn't show that they are compatible. They are a bit harder than other materials for the brake discs as there is no free lunch. But the hold is great. I put copper grease on a bag of pads as a precaution, but not to squeak. Installation work 15 minutes. Very easy. The fit was top notch. I rode them a few hundred miles, dirt, tarmac, gravel. They don't work behind the scenes. They bind exceptionally well. But they don't give the same feel as organic pads. The back is too easy to block. For anything off the pavement, they're just a mess. I do not like it at all. They turned my rear brake into something that grabs and locks. Not only is your foot less sensitive than your toes, but in heavy riding boots you can't control the rear brake with the same delicate nurse as the front. I would never use that on the back. I wouldn't have a problem using them up front, but I need a rear brake that oddly doesn't grab as hard as these.

Pros
  • Manufactured from high pressure cast aluminum platforms with bonded pads.
Cons
  • Very expensive.
