We have a paraplegic puppy, he needs to wear shoes to protect his feet from scratching on the concrete in the backyard when he drags them, he has a wheelchair but in the house he likes to run free and drags his feet after him. He is a 15 pound Chihuahua mix and these suit him perfectly. They're not super waterproof and will need to be changed if they get wet, but they're easily machine washable. I have 2 sets to wear when the other is in the wash. They get beat up by my friend when he literally drags them across the concrete, but they don't tear easily and hold up pretty well. I've already ordered more after the first set wore out. For the price they are perfect! They will probably last a long time for a "normal" dog and are good for small dogs, they protect well from hot pavement and light rain but are more of a summer shoe as they are not lined. They are breathable and stay in place well.
