The pump smelled like cheap motor oil to prevent rust
Ugh! Made in China ! Gates right?!? I bought this pump because of Gates' reputation for quality and American made products. I don't think anymore The pump smelled of cheap machine oil used as a rust inhibitor. The cast iron body is NOT painted as shown in the product photo. Cheap fasteners and very poor countersinking to the baseplate. To be honest it looked like it was handmade. If you have an early Land Cruiser 3.9, do yourself a favor and buy a Japanese GMB. Returned immediately.
