I bought it because the factory antenna hit the garage door. I wanted something similar to the standard antenna, so I went with a black 8" short antenna with spiral wind noise reduction. At first I was concerned that the installation would be difficult because the factory antenna was threaded deep into the rubber/plastic. Windscreen on my Sierra 2020. I was surprised when the new antenna came with an extension/adapter which made installation easier. However, I will give this useful advice. Wrench with blue tape to avoid scratching the finish of the new antenna. I also smeared some blue Loctite on the threads. Overall a great option and where I live there is no reduction in reception.
