Problems arose early then declined

This is one of those rare purchases that makes a person think less about themselves. I bought it because I had two DVI monitors and a laptop and desktop that I needed to switch between. There weren't many options for this setup and most of them were quite expensive. Next to. Well, it wasn't "cheap", but significantly cheaper than other alternatives. I had to wonder why, but I was in a hurry so I took the plunge. Initial setup was easy enough and it has some nice features, but I've sometimes lost my keyboard and mouse and had to switch back and forth to get them back. After a while it got to be too much and I started using another KVM I had on hand for input devices, coupled with this one for monitors. Then a few weeks later, one of the monitors started to randomly go blank and reappear after a few seconds. In the end it didn't come back and I fixed it by moving those cables to another KVM with a set of DVI connectors. Yesterday the one remaining DVI connector I had left on this unit started to detach and I had to replace it with another KVM just for this monitor. So now I'm just going to throw this thing away. This is not my first StarTech purchase and another unit, another KVM with a different monitor configuration also had I/O issues. I wanted to believe it was the right device. It's not like this. So at this point it seems pretty obvious that StarTech is saving money by skimping on quality. I believe some items would go through the process with no problems and you can play those odds if you need them too. However, I will no longer do this in the future.
