I was skeptical - I didn't realize that the bristles of the brushroll would actually penetrate the tiny holes in the matrix. But it is so. In most cases, the brush quickly removes any scraps of paper; sometimes there are a few pieces left that need extra rolling or I have to remove them with a pickaxe. That was my experience with the intricate 1 inch wide butterfly. On matrices with large holes, this brush easily ejects scraps of paper. It's a lot easier than using a pickaxe. Using this brush is less painful than using a pick. I have arthritis in my hands and a pinched nerve. I have much less pain after using this brush.
