Not ready for prime time

. I wanted to love this watch but after two days of heavy use I can see it's not even worth the $50 I paid for them. I don't mind the build style of the watch although the strap looks very cheap although it's comfortable enough - just looks crappy. The actual UI of the watch isn't nearly as user-friendly as the marketing photos might suggest. Very archaic icons, bad touch work. Watch faces are limited to four, all very basic. The pedometer is so inaccurate that it cannot be used - it typically overestimates actual steps by 3 to 4 times. The heart rate sensor is handy, albeit very slow and can't display real-time. Notifications are very poorly implemented and difficult to read due to the small, thin font. The screen is bright enough, but with a low resolution and a much larger frame than in the photos taken with Photoshop - this cannot convince in real life. I was intrigued by the possibility of a SIM card that allows messaging and phone calls. And it worked, albeit not smoothly. And with a 2G-only connection, this feature will literally be obsolete by the end of the year. I couldn't get the sleep tracker to provide any meaningful information. Battery life has been satisfactory - plan to charge daily using the old-school Micro-USB connection - there's no wireless charging here. A $50 watch is reasonable value for money, but it's too difficult to use and I don't see where to update the software, so it's unlikely to improve any time soon. Obviously there's no NFC for mobile payments, no built-in memory to store music. Technology should be fun and transparent, this watch is neither.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Hard to remember but it was
