A little disappointed

I just started this pump, tested it several times, put it in a basin and filled it with water. I don't know how long this will take, but so far it seems ok. I'll start by pointing out each small disappointment by category. Why I gave four stars. Ease of use: For the most part yes, except it needs to be at least 6 inches in water to fill properly. At first I thought as long as the base is submerged everything would be fine, but no, nothing is pumped unless the pump is half submerged. I literally thought I had a defective pump because it wouldn't just suck up water like a washing machine and the water would start coming out of the crease between the two halves. After diving into deeper water, it pumped perfectly and quickly. BTW, 6 inches without bases, add the width of the base to six to figure out how deep the water needs to be. It's not deep enough to flood and just splash water around. Basically sucks air and does not pump. Ease of Installation: Yes, for the most part, except I originally thought the bases were only held in place by a couple of clips. Turns out it's actually held on by a screw. Because the plastic doesn't use a lot of force, it comes loose fairly easily once the screw is loosened. Overall it's ok, I just don't know if my basement is deep enough to put it in. I bought this because my other pump just couldn't handle the incoming water. I don't currently have a base on mine, it already requires fairly deep water, adding a base requires even deeper water. I guess we'll wait and see what happens next time there's a big downpour. I really wish it was like my other pump with a sensor that only starts it when the water is only 1 1/4 inches deep.
