These binoculars seem to be. Big? I am a total novice with binoculars and bought these to go bird watching with the kids in my backyard. The binoculars are durable, focus well and provide a clear image. They are lighter than the binoculars my grandfather used on the race track 30 years ago, but still feel good in the hand. I would imagine the image could have been a little sharper and the focusing a little quicker, but I suspect those qualities come into play on models three times the price of these binoculars. There are many trusted name binoculars in the price range of these Celestrons with similar characteristics - after some research it was difficult to really pick a pair out of the pack and I just went with these Celestrons to break the deadlock. I suspect durability and long term quality will be the deciding factor which I won't be able to comment on for at least a year. However, after a week the Celestrons seem like a good choice - there are no initial quality issues and they work as advertised. Also, there were some nice extras like a carrying case, attached lens caps, cleaning cloth, etc.
