Review on Juki MO 114D Serger Overlock Machine by Michelle Langley

Longtime Serger Sewer loves this car

This is my third Serger. I've had a couple of Serger brothers who were just nice and affordable. But Juki is like a transition from Volkswagen to Mercedes.PROS: -The car is all metal except for the outer shell. The machine is VERY easy to clean and lubricate which has not been the case with the Brother machines I have owned. Vibration and noise are very low, reducing fatigue from hours of sewing. And the faster I sew, the stronger the vibrations and noise don't get. Sewing curves is so easy that you have to be careful not to accidentally sew a curve stitch. End of Juki Portables, but you'll have to thread it yourself and there are a few less bells and whistles you might not need. - Very fast. The machine sews 1500 stitches per minute, which isn't as fast as a commercial machine, but is surprisingly fast in a portable machine. The diagram in the machine shows not only how to thread the thread, but also where to lubricate the machine. The cutting knife is very easy to use. turn off and adjust. A simple touch of your finger releases and re-inserts the knife. CONS: I want to sew a narrower overlock stitch than a 4-thread machine will allow. You can narrow the stitch width very slightly, but it's still wider than I like to sew. I might have to sew more with it to find the best way, but I doubt it. - There is no compartment for fabric samples. I am currently using my old Brother waste tray on this machine. I haven't had any luck finding anything Juki could make to catch cut fabric and threads while sewing. I have to learn what other people use. Basically, I'm excited about this machine. I'm so glad I took the plunge.
