I have used Arctic Silver Ceramique for many years as it offers a great combination of performance and value and I was pleasantly surprised that Arctic Silver updated it. In terms of performance, Ceramique 2 appears to be slightly better than the original, although it still falls short of the best silver-based thermal interface materials. Absolute thermal performance isn't everything though, and what really sets Ceramique apart is the fact that it's electrically non-conductive and non-capacitive, so there's virtually no risk of damaging your stuff by accidentally applying too much, etc. To get the most of Ceramique 2, you should follow the detailed instructions on Arctic Silver's website. The website recommends different applications depending on the type of processor and heatsink. For example, with the Intel Ivy Bridge processor, you should use the "linear method" while my Phenom II requires the traditional "dot in the middle" approach. The website also describes how to prep the processor and heatsink before applying thermal paste to improve efficiency. I bought this particular tube to update the thermal paste in a laptop. With the advent of Intel Turbo Boost and AMD Turbo Core technologies, improving the laptop cooling system can result in a noticeable increase in performance, since the maximum frequency and duration of Turbo Boost mode depend on current, performance and temperature. By lowering the overall CPU temperature under load, the acceleration algorithms offer either even higher Turbo Boost rates (up to the maximum) or a longer boost (possibly indefinitely). smooth mounting surface and sufficiently high (but not too high) mounting pressure. Ceramique handles higher assembly pressures better due to its higher viscosity.2) Ceramique 2 is rated down to -150Β°C, making it suitable for more extreme forms of cooling such as phase change, dry ice, etc. 3) A 25g tube is better than a 2.7g tube, although a 2.7g tube is sufficient for 10-15 uses. Indeed, this is a case where your mileage may vary. Ceramique and Ceramique 2 practically do not dry out and have a long shelf life.
