I use them to record podcasts. I know most people choose dynamic mics for situations like this, but I like pistol mics a lot better. They capture all the qualities of our voice perfectly. They're very directional and background noise isn't much of an issue (I should note I'm using them in an acoustically treated room so echoes don't bounce off walls). When I compare my sound at a professional podcast level with studio monitoring headphones, there is no discernible difference. I've even let a few of my mixing/mastering friends make a living and they haven't noticed a difference either. I'm sure if self-proclaimed "audiophiles" read this, they would strongly disagree. Their anxiety will rise and they will feel the urge to comment, to tell me I'm wrong and that this is just your 'average mic noob'. Don't listen to these people. This is a good mic, and with the right settings, recording environment, and compression, your audio will sound great. As a reminder, I use it for podcasts. I can't vouch for how they play with recording musical instruments other than the Jew's Harp which he records beautifully.
