Big boards let my kids do whatever they want. The boards fit together although they don't snap, which would be a nice feature. It tends to bend a bit when you need a lot of heat (I circle ours and take it on and off so the plates don't get as hot as the beads). However, if it warps a little after ironing, simply place it under a large book or flat pan and it will snap back to its original shape. I used perler boards when I was a kid and he used to do the same thing back then, so it's nothing new. I still love this product and the endless amount of creative time it gives my kids.
