Good product! - Specialty Home Appliances

Bought this to make cotton candy for my 4 year old preschooler's birthday. I thought there was some sugar in it, but there isn't, so be sure to buy some. I knew I would need at least more, so it wasn't a problem. We also bought drawstring bags and paper sticks with cherry, grape and blue raspberry sugar. It took about two hours to make 33 sugar flakes from 1 scoop of sugar, so it went a lot quicker than I thought. This included cleaning the plastic parts every 10 times due to sugar buildup. They are small but perfect for preschoolers. In addition, the machine is very easy to clean. Just pour some hot water on the 2 plastic pieces or throw them in the dishwasher. Metal spinning rods are much more difficult to clean and leave traces of "burnt sugar" that don't seem to go away even after hours of soaking and scratching with your fingernails. I'm just worried that the holes that the melted sugar comes out of will get clogged with burnt sugar and it won't work anymore. Otherwise I love it. I haven't tried lollipops yet. The directions say to wait for the rotation to stop before adding more sugar, but I've found the sugar splashes come out a lot more when I stop them. So instead I turn it off, and when it's almost done spinning, I pour in the sugar so it comes out right away, then turn it back on. As a result, much less sugar comes to the surface and more cotton candy is produced. Also some of the sugar is too fine and for some reason you end up with smaller packages of cotton candy. It's not the machine's fault, just try a different sugar. We bought a bag of 3 flavored sugars and paper sticks and the cherries were too small and made tiny bunches while the grapes and blue raspberries were smaller making bigger bunches. Not sure why that is, but I've made about 15 of each flavor and it's definitely an issue with only one flavor and not all (i.e. not the machine).
