Review on ☕ Efficient and Stylish BLACK+DECKER 12-Cup Mill and Brew Coffeemaker, Black: CM5000B by Sarah Gonia

TWO different units purchased started leaking after 6-8 months, the company rep REFUSED to honor the warranty on the last one

I noticed that there are two types of reviews here. those who love the car immediately after purchase and those who, like me, return within a few months of purchase when overall defects become an issue. Judging by the numerous negative reviews, it is obvious that there were some flaws in the design of this coffee maker. It looks like one of them has been fixed (a vape issue that one reviewer fixed with a bottle cap), while the others haven't. There was a time when Black & Decker stood for quality, durability and the company behind their products. Unfortunately, these words are no longer in the lexicon of a customer service company. This is the SECOND unit of this model we have had that leaked at the bottom of a plain waiter after 6 months of use. For the first device, I went through the reviews to see and try all the different fixes. Stop the leak unsuccessfully. I was really hoping that the first one was an isolated case or that all the flaws would be fixed because we really liked the device, but unfortunately that was the case with this one. Bought 11/02/16, delivered 11/04/16 - cleaned, commissioned 11/07/17. It started to flow like the first block on 06/16/17. In an attempt to resolve the issue before posting a review, I contacted the support email that appears in several other bad reviews. Spectrum Brands customer service rep Jeff (Reference: 3399073) informed me yesterday that having the coffee pot on 'as traded terms' (which I don't recall, see the inserts that came with the machine) will void the warranty. and told me to contact the seller, knowing full well that the seller would not do anything in 30 days. #1 This is a 3 person office and only 2 people drink coffee regularly. From time to time, I brew 1 cup of #2 *ONE* pot of coffee a day, 5 days a week. Do not abuse the item in any way. #4 The device is not located in a commercial area where it would be exposed to anything that could be considered harmful to the machine. #5 The car was in good condition during its very short lifespan. I've included a photo showing where the unit is kept and how I had to start putting paper towels under it to catch the leak so it wouldn't affect our other nearby cars. At the other end of the spectrum we have an old Mr. Kaffee for 6-8 production workers, dust-exposed, multiple pots a day, little to no maintenance and rough handling, BOTH of which have outlasted this model by many, many years. We also have a used Keurig that gets used a few times a week for single cups after the first pot of the day is done. Both demonstrate the quality and durability expected of their brands. While we love this particular model, we will now purchase a completely different company for future purchases.
