I wanted two lights for some closets in the upstairs hallway. I almost didn't buy them after reading about the modifications people had to make to the product as the lights won't come on if there is too much light around. I went ahead and bought them anyway. Modifications may be required for specific locations, but I found that in my situation by experimenting with the placement of the lights I was able to get it to work without any modifications, even with the overhead lights on. Before installing, I moved them around the cabinets until I found the right position so the light in the hallway wouldn't interfere with their lighting. I also positioned them so that they light up when the closet door is opened. The light is a little "hard" and doesn't light up the whole closet, but it's definitely better than no light at all. They work great every time the closet door is opened.
