When I first received it there were no instructions and a mini disc saying do not insert in the CD drive slot. After a few minutes of hassle, I found that the CAC had to be inserted face down in order to read it. The slot was badly jammed and damaged during transport. It was very tight and difficult to introduce the CAC. Even harder to pull out the card. The cable is bent at such an angle that it looks like it's about to break. That also seems to be the reason why it hardly works. I have to keep the cable bent back so you don't see the card when using it, otherwise the computer will say every 5 seconds that the reader is ready to use. Overall an absolute disappointment. I've already ordered the one I've ordered before, comes on a keychain and folds up. Just trying to look cool now I'm back to using the military issue with a 6ft cord. It took a while but I just got it and it's working great for now. CAC is introduced without resistance and reads perfectly. I even moved the cable while it was plugged in and it never worked. The new one had the same curved area on the front, but this appears to be a cosmetic and packaging design flaw, with the weight of anything placed on it flexing the plastic. I've only had it a day so we'll see how it performs during my deployment. However, customer service matters.
