📱 Saicoo Smart Card Reader 2-in-1 DOD/CAC & TF/Micro SD - Mac & Windows Compatible - Portable Version Review

Credit card sized PRONice/CAC portable smart card reader. Short cable with dedicated storage. The MicroSD reader is an added bonus. Has an eyelet for additional attachment of a shoelace. CONS The smart card fits snugly and only the top 2.5 cm (1 inch) is visible, making it difficult to remove from the reader.

The card slider is very tight and difficult to remove with bare fingers. The USB cable closest to the reader has to bend back to accommodate the USB ports on my device after a worrying day of cable wear and tear. connected to a device that worked fine with my previous reader.

At first I couldn't get the CAC reader to work. Months later. Just a few months and after speaking to Saicoo customer service I realized I was using the reader incorrectly. Most readers openly use CAC cards. To use this reader, insert the CAC card face down. Guilty. Thank you for great Saicoo customer service and good quality and portable product. Fits perfectly in my laptop bag and the hidden cable is awesome.

I bought this in February to have an easily portable CAC reader to use with my personal laptop while traveling or doing military work at home. Worked great for 8 months until recently a reader found a short somewhere in it and had intermittent connection problems with my computer (causing you to crash out of every government system and lose your job). Very cool/portable design, but after a few hundred cable folds over the past few months, the wires seem to have started to break.

Bought this to replace another brand which failed after a few months. I like the durability and the ability to use a micro SD memory card with it. The cord folds up to keep it from dangling when moving from place to place. The only criticism is the micro SD slot. I plugged in my micro card and didn't realize the connector wasn't flush. Original review (April 2017): Pretty solid so far. Not as compact as my previous CAC reader but will hopefully last as long or longer. Installs quickly and works like a charm. I had high hopes for this reader as I don't like those long cables hanging from my laptop. Unfortunately it didn't work. I have Lenovo Yoga, WIN10 of course. Tried all USB ports. I plugged my CAC reader into my desktop to make sure these are my laptop's ports. Oh well. Updated on 03/30/2017. When I first received it there were no instructions and a mini disc saying do not insert in the CD drive slot. After a few minutes of hassle, I found that the CAC had to be inserted face down in order to read it. The slot was badly jammed and damaged during transport. It was very tight and difficult to introduce the CAC. Even harder to pull out the card. The cable is bent at such an angle that it looks like it's about to break.
