Very unpleasant odor

The sweater itself is very nice and looks good quality, but when I opened the package I was hit by a very strong smell, almost like garlic? What causes clothes to smell so bad? I immediately closed it and put it back on the street. I'm pretty sure I'll be back.

Pros

Nice and warm: ribbed cuffs and hem keep you warm and the nylon part keeps its shape even after washing. Inner collar in contrasting colour, trendy braided knit.
