I have a Fuji X-T20 and was looking for a fast prime lens (specifically the Fujifilm XF 23mm f/2) when I came across a blog review of 7artisans 25mm f/ 1.8 bumped. As you can imagine, I was met with a lot of skepticism given the very low cost of the f/1.8 lens and the fact that it's not a branded lens. I struggled with the ideal of spending $450 for a Fuji 23mm f/2 (or maybe $899 for a Fuji 23mm f/1.8) versus $70 for a 7artisans 25 f/1.8, and chose the latter. I found out how much I would actually lose by choosing the cheaper option compared to the cost of buying a new (or used) lens. The risk seemed worth it. After using the lens on a simple test shoot, my game paid off. To the naked eye, the images produced by this glass are visually appealing (see appendix). I am sure that under the microscope the overall sharpness (pixel for pixel) is inferior to the Fuji 23mm f/2. However, based on my experience (e.g. outdoor shoots, family portraits, YouTube product reviews, etc.) the quality is "sufficiently good". However, this overall rating is not based on a detailed analysis of the glass (such as chromatic aberration, distortion, color rendering, etc.), but solely on the visual observation displayed on the screen. All in all, I highly recommend this glass. Lens for casual photographers. For $70, it can even serve as a practice lens if you're just starting out and want to learn more about using a prime lens in manual mode. Speaking of manual mode, I found it pretty easy to lock focus, especially when using focus assist. The focus and aperture rings are smooth and easy to turn, although I often reached for the focus ring when I really wanted to change the aperture. That's mostly because I have big hands and it gets pretty cramped with a much smaller lens than I'm used to. The overall quality of the lens seems solid and suits the X-T20 well. So before you invest in a more expensive alternative, you might want to try it for yourself. I'm currently considering getting the MFT version for my GH4. Note. Since this is an APS-C lens, the 35mm equivalent of a 25mm focal length is: 37.5mm. Shipping: Shipping directly from Hong Kong. I paid +10$ for expedited shipping. Received within a week of order. Well packed. A NOTICE. Attached photos are taken straight from the camera - flawless with a 7artisans lens (jpeg format). All I did was trim it. Hope that helps.
