We use this to fence in our open railings from our baby. Standing alone this is very flimsy, 1/16&#34; thick, but braced against our existing railing it is perfect and is a nice accent in our house. It has a rough finish, is natural in color. Outside it would definitely weather quickly without more urethane finish
