I've had this bag for roughly 8 months now and use it daily for the gym. It's a decent size: I have running shoes, headphones, a spare change of clothes, my purse, and a water bottle usually. The side pockets are a decent size. The waterproof compartment is nice for my wet swimming gear. I don't use the pocket for shoes, I found it annoying. I have a pair of shoes I keep in the bag just for the gym, with my other belongings.
