I bought this rope to use as kitchen lighting. Initially we really liked the look and quality of the light. After a month and a half of use I thought I noticed a decrease in intensity. Now, after two months, most of the LEDs are very low and only a few remain at full power. The overall light output is now completely unsatisfactory. I would not recommend them. I had a similar chain of lights mounted on closets for indirect lighting. They have existed for more than 5 years and retain their original strength. So spend a few extra dollars and buy something at your local hardware store.
