I am a big fan of Brother DX cutting machines now that their problem with loading the cutting mat is finally solved. I'm definitely NOT a fan of Brother cutting mats. Each is overpriced as they are substantially inferior in use. This low power drastically shortens their lifespan. However, this extremely expensive Brother mat is an absolute must for DX cutters. They contain the proprietary code required by our DX cutter; Otherwise, the machines simply won't load the cutting mat. Every Brother mat I've bought has the adhesive wear off much quicker than any Cricut mat I've ever bought for my Cricut machines. I think Brother mats brittle faster than Cricut mats. We also cannot successfully revive Brother mats like we can Cricut mats. Cricut rugs are cheaper, even cheaper in bulk, and can last for years with minimal maintenance, baby wipes, and an occasional wash/rinse/air dry with a mild Dawn dishwashing solution. Brother has a great cutter, yes. I think Brother should halve the price of these inferior mats OR develop a super mat at the same price as this but which can be used in any of their machines that come with a quality strong adhesive system. It may be required but not worth the price.
