This unit works well on all bands including AM, I had 3V-115 and they also had problems with AM whistling, crackling I think, shielding problem . The J-401 Prunus doesn't have these problems, but I would like a larger ferrite rod antenna on this model. Everything else is great. I give him 5 stars. This is a great little radio with recording capability. Well done Prunus! Upgrade AUX jack, seems broken, no reasonable connection to my computer with the data cable from the radio, same problem as the V-115, very disappointed, tired of sending back, where's the quality control. He's still recording straight from the radio!
