I've used this on a flat tabletop and found that it won't measure correctly if it's not level. There's also a sensor on the back and when it's closed the measurements are completely different by about 0.5 oz for some reason. It has a handy touch button, but it takes about 15 minutes for it to turn off automatically. It can also measure in different units: kilogram, gram, pound, ounce, liter, milliliter. It also has a tare function that also works with the same on/off button. You can also use the app for larger bowls. I found this very useful as it's easy to measure many ingredients at once. It runs on 3 AAA batteries, which are included. They are easy to replace. The base is made of plastic and the top is made of tempered glass, making it easy to clean by simply wiping with a damp cloth.
