I never considered wearing long silk underwear until I wore a Nomex coverall to work. Because it is flame retardant, Nomex strongly recommends only using natural fibers for underwear, as nylon will most likely melt on your skin if Nomex is exposed to a flame. That leaves wool, silk and cotton. I was pleasantly surprised at how *comfortable* the silk is. It's also a good weight when you're both indoors, like in the office, and outdoors for work. It's not so heavy that I caught fire inside, and silk absorbs moisture well. The legs are quite tight and the other layers slide over easily. I recommend dark colors. I had a white pair. I understand that they are worn under clothing and are not visible, but the white ones are a bit transparent. It was awkward seeing my leg hair messed up by white leggings. Choose a dark color. This is a delicate material so after about a season I started having holes. There will be a maximum of two seasons. And it's silk, folks, so wash on delicates and dry flat.
