I bought this to clean our apartment which is half wood and half carpeted with carpet. We have a mini poodle so can't comment on pet hair, but at 1000 square feet this vacuum is perfect. I prefer to empty the dust box after each session, but it's so easy I don't even think about it. I use all the accessories and features of this model when cleaning, from the brush in the corners to the electric lift. far under the bed, down to the upholstery brush and the detachable handle on the stairs, it has everything i need. only gripe is that the cord is quite short, so i can't plug it into an outlet and do the whole apartment, but this is negligible. To be perfectly honest, winding up the cord is my least favorite part of vacuuming. If I need to clean something up quickly, I don't want to rewind 50 feet of cable every time. I definitely recommend this vacuum cleaner.
