Once a week when the weather is nice I go outside with a group of local outdoor artists. You mean business. They set up French easels with umbrellas and paint in oil on canvas. Give them more power and they're good, but the light changes too quickly for me, and by the time I've got it all set, it's raining, 42 degrees, or the wind blows over the small cars parked at the curb. I learned how to sketch with ink and watercolor in online courses and am very satisfied. I just pull out my folding stool, grab my gear (in a zip-top canvas bag), grab my sketchbook and get to work. I can complete a color sketch of the mood of the day in just over 20 minutes. This little notebook is the perfect size. This is a better quality than I usually use so the watercolors sing on paper and I can pick them up when needed. Sometimes I have to use gouache at home when it gets too dark. The pages are sewn into the book, so if it's good you'll have to use it for reference. Although this is normal. It's fun to have records of your summer in one place. The paper is thick enough to use on the back for paintings, or you can mark on one side and draw on the other. Great as a travel palette gift if you can part with it.
